Herefordshire Art Week
Sat 6 - Sun 14 September 2025
I'm taking part in H.Art Week 2025. In its 23rd year, Herefordshire Art Week invites you to come and meet the artist, watch demos, take a look behind the scenes in our studios to see how we work - our inspiration, processes and work in progress. You'll be able to see what we get up to, chat to us about our work, style, materials used and you'll be able to buy our art directly from us. Visit the h.Art website to discover more about this art trail and the artists and venues involved this year.
Katy Cocklin| Textile Artist | Mixed Media Artist
My artistic textile journey definitely began in childhood where I had access to plenty of art materials and fabrics and parents who encouraged creativity and creative play, but it wasn't until my early 20's that I really rediscovered my passion for messing around with materials. Alongside studying in an unrelated field I dabbled and learnt how to make silk fibre papers. I sold some pieces but went on to focus on a career in family support work. An entire career later I started sewing for pleasure, making things for my young family. Fast forward past redundancy I converted my love of sewing into a small business, offering sewing sessions in schools locally and continuing to design and make under my brand Delilah And The Moon - the website you have found yourself at! At present everything still sits under this roof! (Longer term I do hope to create a separate platform for my mixed media and textile artwork so it has its own home).
Whilst continuing to run my business as my family grew up I had more time to go back to my textile art roots.
I was being pulled in that direction so over several more years I've immersed myself in mixed media textiles using free motion machine embroidery, fabric collage, slow stitching, Kantha, my handmade silk fibre paper making and more recently geli printed techniques. My work is an expression of my surroundings and whatever I feel like depicting in stitch. I am a collector of natural treasures from walks and holidays, flora that can be incorporated into my work and ephemera which holds a fascination or memory for me. if I can use it, I will! I take plenty of photos and my long term obsession with rust and peeling paint/natural textures and marks in nature offer a never ending source of inspiration. I don't overly plan my work, very much going with the creative flow. I am still on this journey and it's wonderful. I have no formal artistic background which I used to worry about but I've since learnt how freeing this is as an artist.
Come and see what I get up to in my studio.
Katy

Worcestershire Open Studios 2022 and H.Art 2023 I took part in Worcestershire Open Studios last August. Studio 4 opened its door for additional days over the 10 day period and invited you in to see how and where I make my mixed media artwork. Open studios is an opportunity to meet artists, see behind the scenes and buy selected work. I demonstrated my work across various multi-media textile disciplines alongside working on pieces for the Delilah And The Moon range. It was a great way for others to find out more about textile/fibre paper making, free motion embroidery and Kantha slow stitch work. Artist Profile My shared studio space is also home to the lovely Fi Tilbury - Jeweller & Painter who also demonstrated silversmithing & painting work throughout Open Studios Week.
